Merchandise
Merchandise is a great way to engage with your customer and create brand awareness. When choosing merchandise it’s important to select products which align with our brand and are relevant to our audience.
Before ordering any merchandise, there are a few things to consider:
- Relevance to your purpose and your audience: Who and what is the merchandise for? For example, merchandise as gifts for a corporate event may not suit an undergraduate recruitment expo. You may want to consider eco-options for large scale events or events related to sustainability and the environment.
- Budget and quantity: What is the budget you have to spend on merchandise? Put aside some budget to cover your merchandise needs, and preferably order in bulk to ensure value for money. Generally, the cost per item will be lower and more cost-effective in bulk order quantities.
- Lead time: Some items can take up to 3 months to be produced and delivered. If you are ordering for an event, you may need to consider ordering your merchandise 3 to 6 months in advance.
- Plan ahead! If you know you will need merchandise throughout the year, consider ordering all your merchandise early and at once. That way, you can have it ready when you need it.
Please note that University Marketing does not maintain a stock of merchandise for events.
All custom merchandise must be approved by University Marketing before the final order is placed, and must be ordered through Curtin’s approved merchandise supplier.

Branding
As one of the main objectives of merchandise is to increase brand awareness, it is important that the Curtin logo is clearly visible and correctly applied to the product.
Before any merchandise is approved, the Artwork Approval Form needs to show the correct application of the Curtin logo, and associated brand statement (eg. Make tomorrow better), URLs and/ or area names paying consideration to:
- representing the logo in its true form, in full colour, with or without the keyline as required
- adherence to minimum size requirements and exclusion zones.
Mono or engraved versions of the logo may be suitable on certain products. Please refer to the Curtin logo guidelines.
